A sunny day greeted the crowds on Broad Street yesterday. White tents extended for blocks and customers swarmed taking in the sunshine, cheap eats, wine bear and entertainment. My crowd guesstimate was 20,000. The RTD said 18,000, so I'm pretty close. There was plenty of food to go around and lots to choose from. I had an open face shrimp/avocado sandwich from Bakers Crust, some beignets from Louisiana Flair, a slice peanut butter pie and a wonderful strawberry/blueberry concoction from Sensi. That, along with some good rock and roll and a glass a beer made for a fun day for me. Walking home just made it all better.
Thanks to the Downtown Neighborhood Association for topping last years performance and starting this new Richmond tradition which is only going to get bigger and better. Broad Street is on the upswing and so is Richmond.
