Tickets for the grand opening performances at Richmond CenterStage are now
on sale. The show, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. in the Carpenter Theatre, will include
a performance by each of CenterStage's nine producing resident companies.
Tickets range from $35 to $100 and can be purchased at Tickmaster (search for
"Carpenter Theatre").The performers at the single-ticket show are:
- African American Repertory Theatre (poetry readings celebrating Langston Hughes)
- Elegba Folklore Society (performance of "Mandiani")
- Richmond Ballet (performance of Stoner Winslett's "Windows IV")
- Richmond Jazz Society
(octet of Virginia jazz musicians performing "Generations of Jazz")- Richmond Shakespeare Theater
(songs and sonnets by Shakespeare, with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra)- Richmond Symphony Orchestra
(Bernstein's overture from "Candide" and Shostakovich's "Festive Overture")- School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community
(a medley from "Les Misérables")- Theatre IV Barksdale
(excerpts from "High School Musical," "Thoroughly Modern Millie, "The Sound of Music" and others)- Virginia Opera (excerpts from "La Bohème").
