Broad Appetit - This Sunday - June 7th

Broad Appetit is Richmond's burgeoning Food Festival. Last year was a huge success, despite the rain. 7,500 people turned out relieving the vendors of all their food. This year there will be more vendors, more food and more fun. Bring your appetite and get a taste of what Richmond has to offer.

    • WHODUNNIT? Art Exhibition
      Ghostprint Gallery (noon - 5pm)

Whodunnit? is an invitational exhibition of work by 125 artists. All exhibited works will be originals in a 6" x 9" or smaller format and will sell for the fixed price of $50.00 (all work will be signed on the back; anonymity is the key). The name of the artist for each work is kept secret during the exhibition, only to be revealed at the completion of the sale. The work will be on view during First Fridays Artwalk on June 5, 2009 and gallery hours on Saturday. On Sunday, June 7, the work will be sold at Ghostprint Gallery (noon - 5pm) during Broad Appétit. Whether the piece is by a well-known or emerging artist is anyone's guess. Participating artists will be eligible to receive the funds raised for a public art project for the neighborhood. More here.
    • Edible Offerings

More than 50 of Richmond’s very best Chefs will prepare $3 mini-dish favorites for you to enjoy. Each chef will submit their dish to be judged by a panel of experts who will determine who has the “To Die For” Dish of Richmond. And new this year is the “To Diet For” Dessert Award, both sponsored by Richmond Magazine. You will not go home hungry or broke! See Website for Restaurant List.
    • Bug Chef Cook-off
Entertaining and, believe it or not, delicious! David George Gordon, Bug Chef from Seattle, Washington and David Gracer, Bug Chef from Providence, Rhode Island will compete, thrill and mesmerize the crowds with their cook-off.
    • Molecular Gastronomy
These food scientists will take you on a journey through taste, temperature and texture, by exploring the chemical and scientific nature of food.
    • Jonathan Austin
Jonathan Austin's magic leaves adults and children, young and old thoroughly staggered and helplessly laughing.
